How to Use the TV & DVD remotes at Lighthouse 702

TV remotes can be confusing especially if you add in satellite or cable services. So, here is a quick lesson on the TV remotes in Lighthouse 702.

First you need to know is that there are three Satellite remotes and that even though they look the same they are individually programmed for different TVs. That means each remote will only work in the room it was assigned to. They have been labelled to avoid confusion: “Master Bedroom”, “Living Room” and “Bedroom 2” is the bunk room.

Here are a few more things you need to know:

  • There are two red buttons at the top of the remote, one large one small, that turn the TV and Satellite box on and off.
  • The remote can control the TV or Satellite box but not the DVD player.
  • The remote can only control one device at a time meaning you have to tell it which one you want it to control.
  • The way to tell the remote which device you want to control, TV or Satellite box, is by pressing the “TV” mode or “Sat” mode buttons. If you look at the very top center of the remote you will see the label “Modes” and below it four modes buttons. We only use two, “TV” and “Sat”. We do not use the “DVD” or “AUX” modes.
  • Just below the red “on/off” buttons are two smaller blue volume up and down buttons. Below those you will see the blue channel up and down paddles with the “select” button in the center.

Hint! If you are having problems changing channels or getting reception at all, chances are either that remote is not set to control the Satellite box which changes the channels or the Satellite box is turned off. Make sure the blue light on the right side of the Satellite box is on. If not, press the “Sat” mode button and then turn box on by pressing the large, red “on/off” button . Chances are your problem will be solved.
